This time we decided to take the saying " One makes their own destiny"
to a whole new level! Thus we invite you to DESIGN FATE - the groups 3rd
challenge so far.
To be more specific , you'll have to design a card from a tarot deck. Above you
have a link with pics from the most used tarot deck out there , so that it will
be easier for you to chose the one you want to redesign .You can either use an
original chara or submit a fan art , it will make no difference to us - but it
will be harder since you'll have to relate the characters personality with the
meaning of your card . This being said I strongly recommend researching the
short meaning of the card you chose , although some of them do not necessarily
need it. ( Basically something like a fan art of Sesshoumaru for "The
Moon" will be so wrong as long as his not one of the dogs barking at it
)
Now let us go through the technical part of the challenge:
Due to difficulties with the last challenge and the last addition of staff rules
in the judging and voting had been bent. This will not happen again. The staff
still has the final say so as to avoid subjectivity but the members choices
weight greatly.
1. As it was previously stated the drawings must be new - meaning submitted to
MT gallery after the date of the announcement.
2. You can use whatever technique you wish , traditional or digital just NO
TRACING OR VECTOR ART
3. The entries will be submitted by PM to one of the groups administrators. If
in 3 days since you have sent the PM your entry is not up contact
SilentNymph.
4. If you are part of the group staff and you wish to join you renounce your
judging position.
5. The limit date for entries is 31 MARCH 2007
6. Judging and voting will take place in the fallowing two weeks after the limit
date for entries.
7. The 4 awards given at the end are still the same:

@ Danielly : Entry #6 is cg-ed thus I find it imposible to be nominated for the
hand drawing award. I like the drawing very much too but I still stand for my
point.

Ahhhhhh apparently textures in art ( especially traditional ) are so
underrated....to some what does not have the shiny plastic look of cheep anime
is just........what was it " crappy "
True , alarger immage could have done it better justice and combined with less
nudity ( which translates to = get rid of the nipple) would have saved it from
deletion.
If by this point in this rant you did not catch my irony nor my admiration for
it , I'll say it now - this is one beautiful display of skill and courage in
using traditional medium. I think I will never get over the level of skill you
display in watercolour.
It saddens me terribly that this is here since it is one of your best so far.
I have added the one entry/contestant rule. It was the same with the previous
chalange and the motives are the same as then. We wish you to not through in
there whatever you've got. This will help you compare and judge yourself between
more of your works that apply to this theme and submit your best. Also this is
in hopes of determining you to do something especially for the

that we would be forced to award you for blowing up our minds with your
originality and imagination.

them , tattoo them, trim their hair in weird ways â? whatever you
feel is necessary to better portray them.
I must warn you that there is a catch to this â? the drawing MUST
be a new one. We will be checking the dates to our entries and the drawings must
be submitted to MT after the date of this announcement or you do not qualify. We
also encourage you to post a short description of your character , it will help
us better understand and judge the accuracy of your visual representation in

I am so touched by all you supportive messages , they really give me the drive
and raise the hope that D-A is going to be the fun place it was ment to. I
really am glad that there are still ppl that care for this group , although I
must admit I wished for more to be interested in becoming mods. Still it does
not matter. I am sure things will change if the group is put on track again. WOW

Hello there dear members of D-A , it's your long lost forgotten admin here. My
absence here and from MT in general has been long and many things have changed.
I for one wish I could say that the change was for the better but as far as I'm
concerned and the group sadly things have been going from bad to worst.
I appreciate imensly all your support in continuing to mantain the group as
active as possible concidering the staff disspearing on you. This group was my
project and belive me that I loved it dearly and wished it to succeed. I found
myself in a certain dilema for the past 3 months but now I have the answer.
As you all now the chalanges that were supposed to be posted monthly here were
judged by the admins. When the staff was made many of us had projects going that
kept their attention devided , leaving , as it was only fare, me and Kyo to take
care of these chalanges. The dillema I was talking about started with the
delition of my submits and naturally with my own demanding scadual.
Now I ask you the same thing I have asked myself.......how can I possibly judge
what you submit when my own drawings are concidered not good enough to be up on
MT?
These things beeing said I want to let you know that I do NOT plan on giving up
on D-A or declairing it dead.
The first thing that I wish to do is to revitalize the staff. I am looking for
new moderators, active people with submitions on MT and who are prepared to take
the responsability of beeing objective and judge future chalanges.
I have asked FireflyWishes once if she would honor us and become a moderator. As
far as she is concerned the offer still stands and I await an answer from her.
This new staff will be the one "in power" where the group is concerned
. I am looking also for maybe another administrator but that depends on the
answers I receive to this and if you are willing to give this group another
chance.

At the begining of the next month there will appear the theme and rules for the
next challange. Once you have a doujin that qualifies to the theme and rules of
the chalange you submit it in your MT gallery and then you PM one of the admins
with the link to it and your intention of having it in the challnage.

I like how things are turning out with this debate as long as it's in the
civilised terms it's been up until now.
I like it because I see oppinions from obviously passionate ppl and that is an
esential quality for any artist no matter which medium they chose.

It's a close call between Candy Candy and Rose of Versailles. I loved both of
them so much and I saw them such a long long time ago..........I was 10 ^^

Some of my favourite scans are yaoi and although I can't explain it yaoi couples
in general when drawen are much less dull then boy/girl couples. And most of the
artists that do yaoi are just so tallented.

You can submit whatever artwork you want no matter how old it is
but............mind you that this is a challange that has as main goal to
inspire/provoke you to draw and test your skill and immagination.
For me things were always good with my parents even if fights are inevitable.
What I find most impportant for ppl to understand when dealing with younger ones
is never to use lines like " What do you know about problems. The things
you cry over are nothing compared to grounup stuff"
My mom tought me without words to understand that the intensity of things we can
endure usually ocure in level with ones age always balanced to what we can
handle at that point. Thus no matter what's the age, stress caused by a crush
and that caused by other things that happen as you go along in age are felt with
the same intensity.
+ I think the younger you are the more frigile you are, makeing the ignoring of
these things as "teenage , immature nonsense" a very dangerous thing.
Just to make things clear once more about submissions for the group gallery:
- you must send a PM to one of the admin. of this group that contains the link
to the doujinshi in your MT gallery that you wish to be a part of the one
belonging to D-A also.
I sure hope many of you get inspired by the first challange theme. I want to see
many submissions and somehow (although a couple ain't an easy begining) I know
there are a lot of romantics out here on MT and a lot of ppl that might do it
for the sake of the chalange.
Please notice that we are giving 5 awards just to show that there are many
things that you can be judged and praised for besides skill.
That beeing said we eagerly await your submissions

You do realize that you're talking to ppl from all around the world. Maybe you
should start out smaller. Be an active member, maybe creat a group on MT that
will hold these contests. Most ppl draw for passion around here so I do belive
that I do not speek for myself only when I say that although a cash prise is an
attractive perspective , most I think would be reluctante to send their works to
you.
Besides you need to clean up some details like : hand drawings vs. computer
generated ones.........? What is it between these 2 that interests you most?
Maybe both........will they be judged together or separately? Think about these
things. Make yourself more open. Post details in you userpage. This is a
comunity and we work as such. Be an active part of it ( even if it's only to
promote your contest(s) and many ppl will embrace your ideea.

What my friend said is right, besides as I said we want to challenge people to
emprove, to do new things, play with new techniques and submit more elaborated
art with thought put behind it ( like not just a pretty original chara but one
that actually has a story and whith a personality deducible from the
pic)
This will get officially started in the new year cause of the hollydays and me
not having internet access. Till then I'll try to gather an admin/moderetor
group and test the waters with possible memebers.
This is just what the title says.
Me and a close friend ( Kyohimura) are trieing to start a new group for all
doujinshi artists. We are planning on opening a group that will post/set every
month ( at least) a contest with a theme chose by the adminstrators. Both
concept and skills will be encouraged (= that meaning that these things will be
separated; skills and concept/ideeas are 2 different thing - I'm sure you know
what I mean). Besides I can promise all the members that if you wish and you
contact me, you will be provided with all the material that I have gained in my
years at an art highschool ( I asure you though that this will be provided only
if you show interest).
We are looking for possibble administrators/ moderators ( cause....... I for
one, lack any comp skills) and we are also trying to see how many would be
interested.
Just remeber that we encourage "elite " art or visible trials for
emprouvement. Plain desplays of skills will not be the only thing appreciated
here cause the spark behind art is FEELING.
If this kind of chalange and open battle ( with yourselves NOT OTHERS - cause if
you look close that is what we are asking) is appealing to you tell me and
support us.
Let us make ourselves worthy of the title of " ARTIST" that we so
easyly use.

I sure hope many of you get inspired by the first challange theme. I want to see many submissions and somehow (although a couple ain't an easy begining) I know there are a lot of romantics out here on MT and a lot of ppl that might do it for the sake of the chalange.
Please notice that we are giving 5 awards just to show that there are many things that you can be judged and praised for besides skill.

You do realize that you're talking to ppl from all around the world. Maybe you should start out smaller. Be an active member, maybe creat a group on MT that will hold these contests. Most ppl draw for passion around here so I do belive that I do not speek for myself only when I say that although a cash prise is an attractive perspective , most I think would be reluctante to send their works to you.
Besides you need to clean up some details like : hand drawings vs. computer generated ones.........? What is it between these 2 that interests you most?
Maybe both........will they be judged together or separately? Think about these things. Make yourself more open. Post details in you userpage. This is a comunity and we work as such. Be an active part of it ( even if it's only to promote your contest(s) and many ppl will embrace your ideea.

If you can't do wallies you can post scans and if they are not yours then make sure to state it in the description.
You can also post doujinshi or fan art you've made so that you'll get comments to improve.

What my friend said is right, besides as I said we want to challenge people to emprove, to do new things, play with new techniques and submit more elaborated art with thought put behind it ( like not just a pretty original chara but one that actually has a story and whith a personality deducible from the pic)
This will get officially started in the new year cause of the hollydays and me not having internet access. Till then I'll try to gather an admin/moderetor group and test the waters with possible memebers.

This is just what the title says.
Me and a close friend ( Kyohimura) are trieing to start a new group for all doujinshi artists. We are planning on opening a group that will post/set every month ( at least) a contest with a theme chose by the adminstrators. Both concept and skills will be encouraged (= that meaning that these things will be separated; skills and concept/ideeas are 2 different thing - I'm sure you know what I mean). Besides I can promise all the members that if you wish and you contact me, you will be provided with all the material that I have gained in my years at an art highschool ( I asure you though that this will be provided only if you show interest).
We are looking for possibble administrators/ moderators ( cause....... I for one, lack any comp skills) and we are also trying to see how many would be interested.
Just remeber that we encourage "elite " art or visible trials for emprouvement. Plain desplays of skills will not be the only thing appreciated here cause the spark behind art is FEELING.
If this kind of chalange and open battle ( with yourselves NOT OTHERS - cause if you look close that is what we are asking) is appealing to you tell me and support us.
Let us make ourselves worthy of the title of " ARTIST" that we so easyly use.
